Bonsai Bar Bistro

Bonsai is a small restaurant and if you only have a few diners with you, you’ll probably be seated by the front of the restaurant and close to other diners. With that said, the quality (and prices) of Bonsai’s sushi and plum wine more than makes up for their occasionally cramped seating. Inventive specials like sweet gyoza, as well as regular specials such as the roast eel tempura sushi roll make Bonsai an exciting place to eat. They also offer a 20% off loyalty card if you need any more convincing!

Koyama

Koyama is much larger than our other picks and offers a wide range of choice, covering both the basics and giving diners some more adventurous sushi dishes to try. Our pick
of the bunch is the eel pressed sushi roll but other interesting choices include their cod and tiger roll and for anyone prepared for a spicy challenge, Koyama’s “HELL” roll will do the trick.

Tang’s

We couldn’t have a list of Edinburgh sushi restaurants without a mention of the ever popular Tang’s. Located just behind Greyfriar’s Bobby, Tang’s is within easy reach of all Edinburgh’s main tourist attractions and they even run their own sushi making class if you want to really impress out of town visitors. Their Fujisan roll is our favourite, made with salmon, prawn tempura, tamago, avocado, cream cheese and spring onion.

Yes Sushi

Yes Sushi has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, impeccable service and the restaurant is always decorated to reflect any current celebrations such as valentine’s day, Halloween and Christmas. Our hot tip for Yes Sushi is the red tiger roll with the cucumber switched for avocado. They also offer an all you can eat maki sushi buffet offer for £15.99 which is definitely worth a shot for all the sushi lovers among us.

Kanpai

If you want a beautiful, modern setting and classic sushi done well then Kanpai’s the place to be. While it doesn’t have the stand out, adventurous menu items that many of our other mentions have, it does the basics extremely well and presents them beautifully; California roll, rainbow roll and salmon maki are among our favourites.
