Exclusively available throughout April and May, The Sheraton Grand’s new Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is a delightful way to spend an afternoon.
Served from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, guests are first presented with a leather case with a vast selection of loose leaf teas in individual glass jars, and invited to smell the more unusual flavours before selecting one. This level of luxury is evident throughout, from the vintage-style tea strainers to the panoramic view across Festival Square onto the Usher Hall.
Our Afternoon Tea began with a light amuse bouche of pea panna cotta served with a parmesan crisp – an unusual twist which perfectly suited the eclectic theme. Then came a wonderful berry milkshake in the iconic ‘Drink Me’ glass bottle, before the classic 3 tier tea stand, updated with the addition of tasty savouries like the Humpty Dumpty scotch egg, made with rabbit and quail’s egg. The scones come warm, presented in a black top hat, and
include Green Tea & Mint and Beetroot & Chocolate flavours served with clotted cream and rhubarb compote. The fine sweets top off the tiers and the afternoon, with the Lemon Macaron styled as the White Rabbit’s pocket watch a particularly delicious treat to note.
